The Nîmes will have to work their brakes for a few months, before going down to party in the streets: due to the epidemic of Covid-19, the Pentecost Feria, which was to take place from May 27 to June 1, is canceled, indicates the town hall of Nîmes (Gard), "reluctantly", in a press release.

"The current health crisis and the uncertainty that reigns over the end of the crisis force me to cancel the Pentecost Feria," says Jean-Paul Fournier (LR), the mayor of Nîmes. It seems very complicated to imagine bringing together tens of thousands of spectators in the arenas and several hundred thousand celebrations in the streets at the end of May. "

See you in September?

The next meeting for Nîmes residents will therefore be the Feria des Vendanges, in September. But in what form? "I have asked my services to work ardently on alternative solutions and I will be able in the next few days, once these working meetings are concluded, to announce actions for the Feria des Vendanges," continues the elected official. I already give an appointment to all the Nîmes in September, and I dare to hope that the terrible sanitary crisis which we are going through will then be definitely last us. "

In 2019, the Feria de Pentecôte, one of the two ferias in Nîmes, welcomed more than a million people on the streets of the Gard capital.
