Dubai Municipality has announced that it will implement the third phase of the advanced waste collection and transportation system today in Al Twar 2, following its implementation in Al Mamzar and Al Twar 3 zones, in line with international best practices and practical experiences in the field of smart waste management.

Taleb Abdulkarim Julfar, Executive Director of the Municipality's Infrastructure Services Sector, told Emirates Today that the Municipality is moving forward with the implementation of this advanced system in other areas of the emirate, especially as it is the latest in integrated waste management systems. , With sensors and cameras to monitor the loading and unloading of containers.

He explained that the system consists of two main parts, namely storage and transport, noting that there is a container dedicated to the collection of recyclable waste, and another to collect public household waste, pointing out to provide the waste collection vehicles with arms used to lift the containers from both sides easily and landed quickly and effectively, without the intervention of the element The container is designed to be easy to use for different segments of society.

The municipality said the containers are environmentally friendly, airtight, and contribute to improving the overall appearance of the city and encourage recycling.

On the other hand, according to a new statistics, issued in cooperation between the Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Statistics Center, the amount of waste collected in the Emirate during the first nine months of this year, amounted to 13 million 414 thousand and 780 tons, compared to 14 million and 695 thousand and 652 tons in the same period From last year.

Construction waste was the main waste collection, followed by the population waste, while the amount of hazardous waste, which includes industrial and medical waste, amounted to 205,281 tons.
