Hurricane Dorian was still strengthening in the Caribbean after passing north of Puerto Rico, while the Bahamas and the US state of Florida, where the state of emergency was declared, are expected to rise on its way soon. .
According to the latest point from the US National Hurricane Center (NHC) at 0900 GMT Thursday, Dorian, which is still a hurricane category one out of the five that counts the Saffir-Simpson scale, had winds at 140 km / h.
Dorian's eye was 240 kilometers north of Puerto Rico and 685 kilometers east of the Bahamas.
It should touch Florida at the end of the weekend. The NHC recalls that it must strengthen and become a "major" hurricane (category 3 or higher, with winds at least 178 km / h) in the coming days.
