Placed on the blacklist of companies banned from trading with the United States, Huawei no longer has access to Google's licenses and services. To replace the Play Store, YouTube or Google Maps, the Chinese manufacturer must therefore find alternatives.

And concerning GPS navigation, a solution seems to have been found to overcome the absence of Google Maps. Huawei would have signed a contract with the Dutch company TomTom, reports Reuters relayed by Presse-Citron .

Huawei has yet to make any announcements

A spokesperson for TomTom said that an agreement had been reached with Huawei "some time ago," said the British agency. This contract should avoid the Chinese manufacturer to offer smartphones without GPS application. For the moment, Huawei has not wanted to communicate on the subject. The details of the agreement are also not known.

This news confirms Huawei's willingness to move forward following the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration. In 2019, the brand had already announced it wanted to invest $ 1.5 billion to invite application developers to participate in the creation of an ecosystem independent of Google.
