February: Sweden makes its worst Olympics of all time with a seventh place in Pyeongchang. Earlier it was clear that the heavily criticized federation captain Leif Boork would quit after the championship.

June: After the Olympics fiasco, the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) decides to withdraw its support to the players in the Women's crowns. “We don't invest any money on them now. We have kept the sixth-seventh level just as we did four years ago. Then they have to perform before we possibly return, ”says Peter Reinebo, Head of Operations. SOK justifies its decision that the union and the clubs are not doing enough to lift the dam hockey. Several players choose to reject the national team.

August: The union swings on the issue of compensation to the Dam Crowns. Together with the men's league SHL, the union will spend SEK 800,000 on the national team this coming season. "We feel we have to take responsibility now for the finest we have on the girl side," says SHL Chairman Anders Källström. The union appoints a crisis council to deal with Damkronna's weak results and who will strategically work towards an improvement to 2022.

April: The women's crowns leave the World Cup's A-group for the first time. A historical bottom button. "It feels like you have failed the Swedish people," says the union captain Ylva Martinsen, who made his first championship.

June: Despite the union's attempt to get Swedish women's hockey back on track, the criticism of the union is great. "It's great fun that the heights of the union write nice chronicles in the newspapers about gender equality, girl hockey and everything it's called, but to us players they don't show a crap," said Brynäs team captain Erika Grahm, who has played several Olympic Games and the World Cup, in a podcast from hockeypuls.se.

August 1: The Ice Hockey Association is reported to the Discrimination Ombudsman for Gender Discrimination. The background is the recent debate about compensation at national team level for women's and men's players in football and ice hockey. “The feeling is that we don't mean much. We have a team because they have to have a team on the ladies side. After ten years in the national team you have the feeling that you do not want to go there, because you just get frustrated, ”says Grahm.

August 14: All selected players choose to boycott the upcoming national team collection on Bosön and Finland in a protest against the union. The reason is, among other things, that the agreement with the union on compensation for lost work income has expired. The players are also disappointed at how they have been treated by the union.
