A handshake and two hours of discussion. This Monday, July 29, Laurent Gbagbo and Henri Konan Bédié exchanged on the political and social situation of their country. It was the first time that the two former heads of state had met for ten years. The two heavyweights in Ivorian political life spoke of their desire to bring about national reconciliation. For this, they intend to inaugurate a platform of the opposition, which will be a framework of concrete exchanges between them, as Henri Konan Bédié, the boss of the PDCI-RDA explains. He will be the Africa guest this Friday, August 2nd.

In an interview with RFI in Paris this Thursday, August 1, Henri Konan Bédié explains the next platform of the Ivorian opposition. " The platform has already come into effect. We work together, the PDCI as the FPI and other parties that adhere to it. If [Laurent Gbagbo] returns, he takes his place in this whole. We are fighting together for a full, complete national reconciliation. "

The new organization should include Guillaume Soro . " Our relations are good, confirms Henri Konan Bédié . Of course, we work together as part of this platform of opposition parties. "

Officially, Guillaume Soro has not yet said he was taking a step towards this platform of the opposition. But the former president of Cote d'Ivoire claims to have its agreement in principle " for a long time " to participate.

" Formally, the platform is not yet signed, " says the head of PDCI-RCA, but it will be " this week, " he promises.
