October 13, 2019The death toll from the typhoon Hagibis in Japan rises to 10 people, while 16 are missing and there are almost 130 wounded, according to the latest updates of the NHK public channel.

Rescue operations continue unabated in the central-eastern archipelago, particularly in the city north of Nagano, where the banks of the Chikuma River have collapsed causing massive flooding, with a water level in some parts of the territory that has reached 5 meters.

The Haneda city airport in Tokyo has restored services but a large number of flights from the main airlines remain canceled. Shinkansen super-fast trains have started operating from the capital. Even the subway is gradually recovering the races.

In Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo and neighboring areas, at least 228,000 homes are without electricity, according to the latest updates from Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco).

Typhoon Hagibis is expected to weaken on Sunday afternoon, when it is likely to be downgraded to a tropical cyclone.
