Greta Thunberg: "It doesn't mean they listen"

It's been a year since Greta Thunberg, 16, sat outside Parliament to strike for the climate. Then she was alone - but she is not now.

After almost a year of active climate work, she may be making her last appearance in the limelight in a while. Now the 16-year-old climate activist will sail across the Atlantic.

For more than a year Greta Thunberg has been actively working to inform the world about the state of emergency for the climate. Now a new chapter awaits when she will take the sailboat across the Atlantic to the United States to disseminate further information about the climate.

She has highlighted the holders of power through, among other things, school strikes and in speaking to world leaders. Her message: It's acute and the climate can't wait.

In the fall, she will attend two major UN climate meetings. The first meeting is at the UN headquarters in New York on September 23 and the second in Santiago, Chile, where the UN holds its annual climate negotiations in early December.

Since Greta Thunberg does not fly, she has instead been offered the offer with the racing boat Maliza II.

During the past year, Greta Thunberg has traveled around the world speaking at climate conferences, speaking in the British Parliament, meeting Pope Francis in Rome and also receiving a letter from the Dalai Lama commending Thunberg's efforts for the environment.
