Italian media reported Sunday night that Simon Gautier, the French hiker who has been missing in southern Italy for a week, was found dead.

Sunday evening, several Italian media announced that the body of Simon Gautier, the French hiker missing since Friday, August 9, had been found by rescue teams mobilized in southern Italy.

Strengthening searches since Saturday

After leaving the village of Policastro last Thursday, August 8th, Simon Gautier was seen on the beach of Molara, inside the Cilento National Park. The telephone operator confirms the zone and specifies that he turned off his smartphone at 19:30. He will only turn it on again the next morning at 6.30 am, the day of his accident.

Since Saturday, the Italian relief had reinforced their device, which involved police forces, the Alpine and Speleological Rescue and teams of volunteers of the Civil Protection, under the technical and operational coordination of firefighters.
