At each school year, a lot of novelties.

After the ferry crisis that rocked the institution last July, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer plays the card of appeasement and insists on the importance of social dialogue. Last year, the return was placed under the sign of the confidence, today the minister insists on the school of the success.

Among the novelties: compulsory school for children from three years old. Concerning priority education, the split of CE1 classes in addition to that of CP, ie 300 000 students concerned.

But the emblematic measure of this comeback is for students of first with the reform of high school . Current channels are replaced by an à la carte menu. High school students will have to choose three of twelve specialties. And then, most importantly, starting this year, the continuous grades will count for the future bachelor's degree.

A monitoring committee and adjustments

On the reform of the high school, unions complain of a lack of consultation. In response to this, Jean-Michel Blanquer announces the creation of a monitoring committee that will have to propose adjustments and he promises to involve the unions. They are suspicious and expect concrete actions.

Measures against violence at school

It was a surprise announcement at the Education Minister's press conference last Tuesday. After months of postponement, measures to combat school violence and secure institutions were finally unveiled. They were claimed by the educational community for almost a year, after the case of the teacher threatened by a student using a dummy pistol in Créteil. This incident had upset the teachers, who had launched in the process the hashtag #PasDeVague.

This means that the districts of reconquest republican will allow a reinforced security of the surroundings of the establishments. [...] From now on, the inspector of the academy will be able automatically to allocate in a relay class, that is to say a specific institution, the student who was excluded twice in the year and which poses problems of violence. [...] There will be a protocol of accountability between the inspector of the academy and the family of the student concerned so as to see together how in an educational way we put the student back on track.
