MOSCOW - Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in the Saudi capital Riyadh on Monday for a visit to the kingdom that will last until Tuesday morning, his first in 12 years amid mounting regional tensions in the region.
During his first visit to Saudi Arabia in 12 years, Putin will meet Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to sign a number of agreements.
Sources in Riyadh said that the Saudi king and the Russian president will discuss a number of issues of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. There will be talks between Putin and the crown prince.
Yuri Ushakov, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in remarks that "about 30 documents, including economic and trade agreements, are being prepared for signing during Putin's visit to Saudi Arabia."
According to the director of the Russian direct investment fund, the fund will sign agreements during the visit about two billion dollars.
The last visit by the Russian president to Saudi Arabia was in February 2007, and the Saudi king visited Russia in 2017.
