The Amazon is burning and in Brazil as in Bolivia, millions of hectares have gone up in smoke in recent weeks. If one points the very right Jair Bolsonaro, Evo Morales, the Bolivian president, is also under fire from critics.

With our correspondent in La Paz, Alice Campaignolle

" Unconscious " and " proud " these are some of the qualifiers that have been given to Evo Morales in recent days. For environmental activists the president not only manages the fires very badly in Amazonia, but he himself would be at the origin of this disaster.

Indeed, the government of Evo Morales allows, since coming to power 13 years ago, the extension of the agricultural border , nibbled in part on the forest. It also allows fires to clear, which cause disaster in recent weeks.

One of the most deforesting countries

It's simple, Bolivia is now one of the most deforesting countries in the world, with about 300,000 hectares last year. So the " ecological break " declared by Evo Morales, the ban on the sale of land, did not really convince.

On Wednesday, August 28, the president, has further fueled the anger of environmentalists by welcoming in a public deed the first shipment of beef in China, but most of the deforestation is due to livestock.

Finally, we reproach the first agent for still not declaring the state of national emergency and use politically this disaster, we saw it Wednesday on the spot in combination spraying water of the zones affected by the fires.
