Seven months after the ET302 accident of the Ethiopian Airlines company from Addis Ababa, the remains of the 10 French victims were repatriated to France, after a long identification process. The 137 passengers, from 35 countries, were killed on March 10, resulting in the ban on the flight of the Boeing 737 MAX model, already involved in a previous drama. RFI attended this Saturday the solemn ceremony of restitution of bodies to families at Orly airport.

Time was suspended in this flag of honor when the first coffin came in and, one by one, the families of the victims collapsed.

It's been seven months since they waited for this moment to even put a hand on the coffin of a girl, a brother or a husband, " the final stage of an interminable wait, " in the words of Virginie Fricaudet, president of the most recent association of families of French victims .

During the ceremony, she spoke for exactly six minutes, the time that elapsed between takeoff and the accident of the Boeing 737 MAX on March 10, 2019. But it is also, according to her, time of the fight, now.

The association will appeal to civil society to understand why the Boeing model was used by Ethiopian Airlines just four months after the Indonesian company Lion Air crashed in the Java Sea, killing 189 people on October 29, 2018. Since then, the 737 MAX have been grounded. It will not be enough for these broken families.
