Sign of its popularity in the United States and around the world, the hit series "Game of Thrones" broke a record Tuesday at the Emmy Awards, the Oscars of American television, with 32 nominations.
HBO's medieval-fantasy series, which has just ended this year after its eighth season, is ahead of Amazon's "The Amazing Mrs. Maisel", which has 20 nominations for the Emmys, the 71st edition of which will be held at Los Angeles in September.
"GoT", already the most awarded series of US television, now has 161 nominations to his name.
His 73rd and last episode, broadcast in May in the United States, broke the audience record of the series and the history of the HBO channel that has been broadcasting since 2011, with 19.3 million viewers gathered for the conclusion of the saga.
Another HBO program, "Chernobyl", is in third place in this year's most-nominated series with 19 hits.
Last year, "The fabulous Ms. Maisel" had created the suprise Emmys by winning five awards including the best comedy.
This series produced by Amazon portrays a Jewish housewife who embarks on a new life of stand-up comic and scandal in the 1950s, having been cheated and left by her husband.
"Game of Thrones" had a third Emmy of the best drama series.
