Egyptian activists broadcast a leaked message from one of the prisoners in Scorpion prison, revealing the spread of Corona's epidemic inside the prison, which lacks the most basic elements of life, and confirms that the prison administration ignored the prisoners' calls to speed up their treatment and release.

The letter stated that the symptoms of Corona disease began to appear a week ago on several prisoners, causing panic among all, so they rushed to write their wills in anticipation of death at any moment.

The letter writer added that they addressed the prison administration to save them before it was too late, without success, stressing that their ignorance was deliberate, and that the officers, guards and doctors also panicked from the arrival of the disease to them, and intentionally avoided contact with prisoners living in extremely poor conditions.

Ten days ago, sources told Al-Jazeera Net that the first case of the new Corona virus had been detected in Egyptian prisons, specifically in Wadi al-Natroun prison, north of Cairo, but the security services refused to reveal the name of the prisoner and the case held there.

Since that time, activists and human rights activists have launched a campaign to "release prisoners" through opposition websites and media, in which they demanded the authorities to release the detainees, and said that the epidemic would affect guards, not just prisoners.

Tweeters suggested that prisoners be released on remand, those who have completed pretrial detention and those who have spent half the time, as well as patients and the elderly.
