The Abu Dhabi Award organized a voluntary initiative entitled “Darna Amana” to clean the family garden on Abu Dhabi Corniche, following the celebrations of the 48th UAE National Day.

His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Crown Prince's Court, participated in the initiative.

The initiative, in partnership with the Emirates Foundation, Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) and Abu Dhabi Police, attracted more than 200 volunteers of different nationalities and ages.

Volunteers participated in the Darna Amanah initiative through the national Volunteers.Emirates platform, which is provided by the Emirates Foundation. The initiative also gathered volunteers from 16 different nationalities, aged between 10 and 65 years.

His Highness Sheikh Diab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said: “The participation of volunteers from different nationalities in this initiative is proof that the love of the homeland and the keenness to serve it are not limited to UAE nationals, but extends to our brothers from different communities residing in the country as well. It was an affirmation of the values ​​of cooperation and brotherhood that are rooted in our society. ”

He added: «We thank the anonymous heroes of cleaners, who took on the cleanliness of public places in the city and its streets, to boast the capital in the best image throughout the year».

The campaign came as part of a series of community initiatives undertaken by the Organizing Committee of the Abu Dhabi Award, to promote the values ​​of the Award, which aims to encourage charity work and community service, because of its role and positive impact on the life of the individual and society.

The Abu Dhabi Award is a government initiative that honors those who have contributed to the community and provided great work and services to the emirate and the state, the highest civilian award in Abu Dhabi celebrating the spirit of altruism, giving and giving in the UAE.

Since its inception in 2005, the award has honored 80 figures from 16 different nationalities, which have had a positive impact on the emirate's society. The Award continues to receive nominations until December 31, and can be submitted through the website.
