Apple CEO Tim Cook told Susan Lee, Fox News presenter, Thursday that he was "optimistic" that China was running a Corona virus outbreak, despite slowing production by technology giant suppliers.

"China controls the coronavirus," Cook said. "Look at the numbers, it's going down every day. So I'm very optimistic over there."

The Apple chief confirmed that the iPhone gets parts of "everywhere in the world", including China, which has experienced 2744 deaths among 78,497 cases, mostly in the central province of Hubei.

"When you look at parts that are made in China, the factories have reopened, so the factories have been able to operate," said Cook.

Apple said last week it would likely fail to raise revenue in the second quarter due to the continued impact of the Corona virus on its operations in China.

"The work has started to resume across the country, but we are witnessing a slower return to normal conditions than we expected," the company added.

Cook, in his native Alabama state, was to help launch an educational initiative to provide programming opportunities for disadvantaged communities, in partnership with Birmingham City Schools.
