Czech Nightingale: singer Karel Gott dies

In Prague, at the age of 80, the Czech pop artist Karel Gott died. In early September, the musician was diagnosed with cancer. An electrician by training, he began to engage in amateur art and sing in the 1950s, and only in 1960 began to study the basics of opera singing at the Prague Conservatory. Gott was widely known in the USSR for his first tour of the Union: their musician considered his "creative start." Records with the artist’s voice diverged in millions of copies. Gott's songs could be heard in films. For example, in the tapes “Three Nuts for Cinderella”, “Lemonade Joe, or Horse Opera” and “Old Men on the Hop Harvest”. In several European countries, Karel Gott is called the "Czech nightingale."
