Egan Bernal, the young Tour de France winner, and his elder Nairo Quintana will be the leaders of Colombia's selection for the World Road Cycling Championships at the end of September in England, the Colombian federation said on Sunday.

The Colombian team, coached by Carlos Mario Jaramillo, is "a group of experience and accustomed to international races to face the demanding course of 285 kilometers, with more than 3,000 meters of unevenness," said the Federation.

Bernal (Team Ineos), winner of this year's Tour at 22, and Quintana (Movistar), who has already won the Tour of Italy (2014) and Spain (2016), will have their lieutenants in the quest for the coronation. Fernando Gaviria (UAE Team Emirates), Alvaro Hodeg (Deceuninck-Quick Step), Esteban Chaves (Mitchelton-Scott), Sebastian Molano (UAE Team Emirates) and Daniel Martinez (EF-Education First).

The World Championships will take place between September 22nd and 29th in Yorkshire.
