Colombian Nairo Quintana, three times on the podium of the Tour de France, assured Wednesday that he will participate in the 2020 edition within his new team, Arkea-Samsic.

"I want to tell you quietly that we are going to do the Tour de France," said the 29-year-old cyclist in Bogota during a press conference.

At the end of August at the beginning of September, Quintana left the Movistar team to join Arkea-Samsic from 2020, which raised doubts about his participation in the "Great Loop", where he finished 2nd in 2013 and 2015, and 3rd in 2016.

Arkea-Samsic is part of the continental professional category, one step below the elite, and needs invitations to participate in the biggest competitions.

Quintana must be the "co-leader" of Arkea-Samsic from 2020 with Warren Barguil, the reigning French champion.

In his career, he won the Giro 2014 and the Vuelta 2016, and more recently the stage-marathon Tour de France between Gap and Valloire, this summer alone.
