A man in Australia has rid himself of a crocodile's jaws after pricking his eyes with his fingers, near a cattle breeding station in a far-off area of northeast Australia, local media reported Monday.
The man working as a guard at a nature reserve was at the time of the crocodile's off-duty attack, the Australian news agency (AAP) said.

The man was fishing alone on the bank of a river, when the crocodile came out of the water, bitten him in the leg and then caught his jaw on his hands.

"The patient was able to attack the crocodile's eyes enough to force the animal to open his jaws and rid the man," said Warren Martin of the Royal Flying Ambulance Service.
After the man was rescued from the crocodile's jaws, he drove for an hour to help his neighbor.

The Queensland Environment Department said the crocodile was likely to be caught and removed.
