The K-League would have started this weekend, but the league management decides to postpone the start until the spread of the virus has subsided.
"It is to protect the health of residents and players against the virus, which has reached a serious level," K-League writes in a statement.
Authorities have so far confirmed 763 cases of the new corona virus in South Korea, and seven deaths.
Twelve teams play in South Korea's highest football league and Jeonbuk is the reigning champion.
