Two cases of the new Chinese coronavirus have been "confirmed" in France, announced on Friday January 24 the Minister of Health, Agnès Buzyn. According to her, it would be the first proven in Europe.

So far only the United States has detected two proven cases outside the Asian continent.

The first French case concerns a patient hospitalized in Bordeaux and the second in Paris, said the minister during a press point to the Ministry of Health, ensuring that the authorities were going to do everything possible to "contain" the spread of the virus.

A patient from the Netherlands from China

Earlier in the afternoon, SOS Doctors had reported on social networks that a patient "suspected of the coronavirus" had been hospitalized on Thursday. SOS Doctors Bordeaux had announced on Facebook that it had "taken care of a patient suspected of having coronavirus 2019-nCov", presenting "fever and cough", initially for what seemed to be a "classic" consultation.

Questioned by the doctor about possible trips, the patient "declares coming from the Netherlands but reports that he comes from China where he is from," reported SOS Doctors. The doctor then asked him "to specify whether he stayed or was in contact with people from Wuhan province", the epicenter of the epidemic, to which the patient replied in the affirmative.

Supported in the premises of SOS Doctors by the Smur of Bordeaux, the patient was then admitted to the University Hospital Center for "assessment and observation".
