A meeting between IEC President Ibrahim Coulibaly-Kuibiert and the UN mission lasted an hour and a half. The UN delegation responds to a request from the Ivorian state, which wants support in the electoral process until the fateful date of the presidential election of October 2020.

The UN already solicited in 2015

In response to the comments of national and international experts who are waving the specter of possible troubles near the D-Day, the Ivorian authorities are reassuring. Government spokesman Sidi Tiemoko Toure insists that the country is " sufficiently equipped to organize these elections autonomously ", while accepting " the advice of partners and friends " of Côte d'Ivoire. At least two more meetings are scheduled between the IEC and the UN to determine in detail the needs.
