The businessman Alfonso Cortina has died at the age of 76 after contracting the coronavirus. During the last days, he remained hospitalized in the Toledo hospital. Cortina was president of Repsol between 1996 and 2004 and of Colonial real estate between 2004 and 2006.

Cortina had come to the hospital last March with a fever and had undergone the health protocol against the pandemic. His health was good and the family was hopeful that he could overcome the disease, according to sources from his environment.

His business career began in 1984 in the Construcciones y Contratas group, where he managed Portland Valderrivas as Vice President, Chief Executive Officer and, since 1990, President.
