According to the spokesperson of the National Police Alliance, one of the police unions, this " odious and barbaric " attack was perpetrated against the police team that was going to Mentao for the security of the refugee camp. According to one security officer, armed men and terrorists opened fire on the patrol. The police retaliate but three of their elements are fatally injured. An injured person is transported to a health center. Reinforcements sent on the spot could neutralize one of the attackers according to the direction of the communication of the Ministry of the Security.
Before this attack on the police, it was soldiers who had been targeted on the night of 13 to 14 August in Toeni, Sourou province, not far from the border with Mali. Their vehicle jumped on an improvised explosive device. Four soldiers were killed and two others wounded.
