Ethiopian 1,500-meter world record holder Genzebe Dibaba will not be competing in the Doha Worlds (27 September - 6 October) because of a right foot injury, she said on her Instagram account.

Dibaba (28), 1,500-meter world champion in 2015 in Beijing and world distance record-holder since July 2015 (3: 50.07 in Monaco) suffers from plantar fasciitis in her right foot (partial rupture of the membrane under the foot from heel to toe), said a statement from his agent relayed to the account of the athlete.

The pain appeared on August 29th in the final of the Diamond League in Zurich (Switzerland) that she finished in 4th place.

Genzebe Dibaba was among the top contenders on the 1,500m podium in Doha, as the second fastest woman in the distance this year (3: 55.47) behind Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, who has her favorite status strengthened.
