The Associated Press reported that a UAE tanker disappeared two days ago while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, whose fate has not yet been known.

The vessel, which was flying the Panamanian flag and carrying the name "Riah", was passing at a shipping point near the strait before it disappeared. The last location of the vessel shows that it was heading towards Iran.

The agency said that the carrier made regular flights from Dubai to Sharjah before entering the Strait of Hormuz on its way to Fujairah on the east coast of the UAE, but something happened to her last Saturday, according to data for the site tracking the movement of tankers.

The carrier has not changed course in the past three months around the UAE coast, raising questions about its fate, the agency quoted an expert as saying.

Iranian and UAE officials have not commented on the matter until now, and the US Navy's 5th Fleet command declined to comment.
