Some dozens of people, and not the 2 million that were expected , gathered on Friday near the secret US military base in response to a call on Facebook to take the facility in search of aliens.
Attendees, some with alien masks or foil hats, began to meet at the suggested time of Friday at 10.00 GMT in the area where 'Area 51' is located, in the state of Nevada (west).
They did not attempt to storm the base, which is heavily guarded. Only one woman tried to pass under a fence and was arrested , as well as a man who urinated nearby .
The call was published on Facebook as a joke in June, but it quickly went out of control when more than two million people confirmed their participation in the taking of this remote installation that has been targeted for years of conspiracy theories about aliens .
The event, called 'Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All Of Us' ('Storm in Area 51: They can't stop us all'), was then removed by Facebook.
The military forces issued a severe warning before the event saying that lethal force would be used against anyone trying to enter the place without authorization, whose existence the government recognized in 2013.
Instead of the assault on the base, they ended up organizing two weekend festivals in the two small towns of Nevada, Rachel and Hiko , which are located near the military zone, about two and a half hours by car from Las Vegas.
