National Police troops have arrested a Romanian-born marriage allegedly dedicated to human trafficking in Benigànim , a town in the province of Valencia. The operation has served to free a Romanian woman who was forced by the couple to prostitute themselves on a road in the municipality for ten hours a day .

The victim suffered extreme control, to the point that she had to call her captors every time she performed a service to collect the benefit received. In addition, the detainee used to hit and rape her frequently and forced her to abort up to two times. The marriage is charged with a crime of trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation and is in provisional detention by order of the judge.

The investigation dates back to last February when the agents received a request from the Prosecutor for International Cooperation of the State Attorney General's Office. In it he realized the existence of a European Order in which he claimed all available information about the now detained. At that time the steps began that allowed to verify the criminal activity of marriage.

Thus, the Police knew that the victim had been captured in their country of origin by marriage, which promised him decent work and better economic conditions . However, upon arrival in Spain, he was forced to practice prostitution under duress and threats.

The woman had to undergo a strict schedule set by the detainees and every day she was transferred to a road in Benigànim , where she had to stay from ten in the morning until eight in the afternoon. If the victim refused to perform sexual practices or if they discovered her talking to someone in her country, she was constantly beaten and abused by the detainee, regardless of her state of health.

The man came to rape her on several occasions, and as a result she became pregnant twice . In both cases she was forced to abort by marriage to continue working and, therefore, giving them money.

National Police agents found that the detainees took advantage of their position of dominance over the victim, to the point that he believed he had no choice but to continue to obtain benefits for his captors. The investigation reached its final point with the entry and registration at the couple's domicile, where 320 euros were intervened in cash, the victim's documentation, mobile phones, proof of money sent to Romania and documents proving the sexual services that The victim was forced to practice.
