The storm pulled over the city of Ningbo around two o'clock during the night towards Saturday. One of those who experienced the severe weather was Amie Blomquist, which Aftonbladet also reported on.

Amie Blomquist moved from Ystad to China five years ago, and has experienced several tropical storms, but none as strong as Lekima.

- The wind pushed the rain through the windows all night, so I've had to put towels everywhere, she says.

At least 18 people dead

The authorities have issued an orange warning, the second highest. Lekima's strength corresponds to a Category 3 hurricane. M8 people have died and several are missing after winds of more than 50 meters per second swept across the country's eastern parts. Over a million people have been evacuated from their homes as a result of inclement weather.

Amie says she feels safe at home, but it is uncomfortable that so many people lost their lives.

- I can't even go out with the dog, I have never been to this heavy storm before, she says.
