Alicia Alonso, the legend of Cuban dance, dies at 98

Cuban dancer Alicia Alonso , a legendary figure of classical dance, has died this Thursday at age 98 , a representative of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) reported.

Alonso, who despite his advanced age remained active at the head of the prestigious BNC, was admitted for health complications at the Medical Surgical Research Center (CIMEQ) of Havana , where he died around noon.
