The Ministry of Economy announced today the launch of two maintenance campaigns for the 2019 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savannah in collaboration with the two dealers in the country (Al-Kindi Motors) and (Bin Hamouda Automobiles).

The recall is due to General Motors saying that the vehicles covered by the recall may not comply with US federal vehicle safety standards for passenger protection in the event of a collision, the ministry said in a report. Approximately five seconds after turning the car key to the on position, indicating that during this delay period of five seconds will not alert the driver that his seat belt is not tied, which may increase the risk of injury to the driver in the event of a collision.

The ministry confirmed that the cars of the mentioned models are safe to use, and that customers who own cars of those models should expect a call from the dealer "General Motors" in the country to determine the date of receipt of their cars to carry out the necessary repair of the affected cars in the UAE and the required modifications.

In another report, the ministry announced the recall of seven Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class models of the 2019-2020 model in collaboration with Gargash Enterprises and Emirates Motor Company, Mercedes-Benz dealers in the UAE, due to a defect in the airbag. A few days ago, the driver announced the start of a recall campaign involving 170 Mercedes-Benz E-Class station wagon models of the 2017-2019 model, bringing the total number of Mercedes vehicles recalled in less than a month to 177.

The ministry pointed out that this comes in conjunction with the start of "Gargash Enterprises" and "Emirates Motor" and the Department of Competition and Consumer Protection in the Ministry to inform customers to start a campaign for defective cars imported to the UAE of those models to be repaired free of charge and repairs are exempt from any fees.
