Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) has unveiled the initiative to automatically renew the licenses of economic activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi through the SMS system once the lease contract is renewed through Tawtheeq. It enhances the ease of doing business and the flow of investments to Abu Dhabi.

This came during the participation of the Department in the activities of GITEX Technology Week Dubai 2019 within the pavilion of the Government of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, which is supervised by Abu Dhabi Digital Authority.

Deputy Director Rashid Abdul Karim Al Balooshi said that this initiative is a new incentive in facilitating the procedures of doing business in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi within the framework of the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Accelerated Development Program “Tomorrow 21”. Contributes to Abu Dhabi's competitiveness as a leading investment and business destination.

He explained that the initiative includes the renewal of licenses for about 71 economic activities and after coordination with local and federal government authorities, the number of renewable activities automatically through the SMS system reached 3438 economic activities, bringing the total renewable licenses to 95% of the total licenses registered in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

He added that the auto-renewal initiative is in addition to the series of initiatives by the Department to facilitate business and reach investors and businessmen through digital channels as a technological means to enable the department to facilitate and simplify procedures to enhance the competitiveness of doing business in Abu Dhabi.

Rashed Al Balushi stressed the commitment of the Department of Economic Development Abu Dhabi and its keenness to work in accordance with the directions of the Government of Abu Dhabi and its clear vision in simplifying procedures and facilitate transactions and how to reach government services to dealers in the interest of enhancing the investment environment in the Emirate and motivate investors and businessmen to do business in the Emirate.

For his part, Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Marar, Director of the Department of Trade Licenses, said that the renewal of the commercial license through the SMS system by the Abu Dhabi Business Center of the Department is done automatically without the need to review the client and waiting for the credits of the relevant authorities.

He added that the customer will receive a proactive SMS by clicking on the link to pay the fees for renewing his expired license, 14 days before the expiry date of the license. The customer is an instant message stating the renewal of his economic license.

Al-Murar highlighted the advantages of the Automatic Renewal Initiative, which renews the economic license at the Abu Dhabi Business Center and through various service channels without transferring the transaction to the relevant authorities for technical approvals. And logistics and others.
