A 28-year-old woman was found dead and her companion arrested on Sunday in Ussel in Corrèze. Without news of the young woman, her family alerted the police. The police discovered with the firefighters his lifeless body last Friday, in his house. He had traces of blows.
The police arrested Sunday at the start of the afternoon the companion of the young woman, 32 years old, who was placed in police custody. The body was transferred to the Limoges Forensic Institute for an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday, according to the prosecution. An investigation was opened for homicide.
According to an AFP provisional count, 123 women were killed by their spouse or ex-spouse in 2019.
