The Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Central Operations Sector of Abu Dhabi Police reported that 80% of traffic accidents, which lead to death or severe injuries, are the result of busy drivers driving off the road, and using phones to browse the Internet and social media.

And revealed, during an awareness lecture at the Al-Bateen Council in Abu Dhabi, that the smart gates spread on the main roads in the emirate are linked to an automatic tuning system to violate not leaving a safety distance between vehicles, to contribute to limiting the reckless and indifferent driving of some road users.

In detail, the Council of Councils Affairs Office, affiliated to the Court of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, organized a lecture on Traffic Awareness and the "Safety Path" initiative, yesterday, delivered by the Deputy Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Central Operations Sector in the Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Salem bin Barak Al Dhaheri, in the presence of the Director General of the Diwan Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Jabr Muhammad Ghanem Al-Suwaidi, and a number of Abu Dhabi police officers, in addition to a number of officials and intellectuals, and a large number of the people of the region.

Brigadier Al Dhaheri stressed the interest of Abu Dhabi Police in spreading traffic culture among members of society, to enhance security and safety, through the publication of programs and awareness campaigns that are interlinked and integrated with the public, stressing the need to follow traffic regulations and laws to reduce traffic accidents.

He stated that 75 to 80% of traffic accidents, which lead to fatalities and severe injuries, are due to busyness other than the road using phones to browse the Internet and social media, and other behaviors that cause sudden vehicle deviation and lead to severe traffic accidents.

He said that Abu Dhabi Police is implementing a traffic awareness and control campaign to reduce the negative behaviors of violating drivers by not leaving enough distance behind the front vehicles, whose perpetrator is penalized with a fine of 400 dirhams, and four traffic points for the driver.

He pointed out the seriousness of the violation of the drivers' failure to adhere to the “stop” sign for the student transport buses, which may often lead to accidents as a result of the sudden movement of children when they leave the bus without supervision from their parents, especially since some drivers do not pay attention or take into account the movement Suddenly, road users need to be careful and watch and monitor the movement of the road or street in residential neighborhoods before moving, confirming that Abu Dhabi Police is spreading traffic awareness, promoting a culture of compliance with laws while driving, and achieving a safer traffic environment.

Al-Dhaheri touched on the violation of the "total non-stop at the stop line," explaining that underestimating it could lead to dangerous collision accidents, due to the failure of the drivers to use the intersections and roads intersections properly, calling on the drivers to give priority to the vehicles that are running on the main roads.

Regarding the violation of not leaving a safety distance between vehicles, Al Dhaheri confirmed the success of the automatic tuning system for drivers who are not committed to the safety distance, through speed control radars and smart gates spread on the roads, in addition to the traditional control of traffic patrols, in limiting the reckless and indifferent driving of some users The road, criticizing the behavior of some drivers who confuse the cars in front of them, to force them to change course.

Noise and inconvenience

The deputy director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Central Operations Sector in the Abu Dhabi Police, Brigadier Salem bin Barak Al Dhahiri, warned the drivers of the supplied vehicles against fabricating noise, inconvenience and driving recklessly, especially in residential neighborhoods, explaining that the noise causes a state of panic, tension and nervousness among other drivers and road users , And neighborhood residents, especially children and the elderly.

He stressed that the police will not tolerate the drivers, who intend to make noise from their vehicles, by taking the necessary legal measures against them, as the vehicles violate a fine of 2000 dirhams, and 12 traffic points.
