The Public Libraries Department at Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) announced the expansion of its winter camp this year to include five libraries.

The camp for children during the period from 15-26 August will include a program full of purposeful and diversified activities distributed in two periods: morning in Umm Suqeim Library, and evening in libraries: Al Tawar, Rashidiya, Al Mankhool and Al Safa Library of Art and Design.

The program was prepared according to two age groups: the first from 5-8 years, and the second from 9-12 years. It includes specialized and innovative training courses, focusing on technological development, as well as keeping abreast with the latest trends in artificial intelligence and foreseeing the future, creativity and innovation.

In addition to the various workshops, reading activities and storytelling, young participants in the camp can benefit from six activities carefully prepared by specialized educators. The director of the public libraries department in "Dubai Culture", Dr. Hessa bin Masoud, said that "the step of expanding the camp aims to make room for the largest possible number of young people to benefit from targeted activities full of fun and benefit based on enhancing their mental and creative abilities during their winter school leave", adding “Given the success the winter camp enjoyed last year, we are pleased to announce the version of this winter’s Winter Camp, whose space will be wider and spread over five libraries in various regions of Dubai.”

Hessa bin Masoud continued: «We look forward to attracting distinguished scientific, literary and artistic talents to help them to continuously develop and contribute to their refinement through a spectrum of activities in an ideal environment suitable for every age group.

She concluded: «We take great pride in the societal role that our libraries play, after they have become knowledge, educational and entertainment destinations at the same time, which helps to strengthen the relationship between the library and the student, and strengthen the role played by the school and parents.
