The icon of French music, Kassav, begins a new world tour for its forty years. The group of fifteen people from the West Indies, considered the inventor of "zouk" will be on stage Saturday at the Feast of Humanity. Jocelyne Béroard, singer of the group, answers Philippe Vandel's questions Thursday at the microphone of Europe 1.
One of the only French groups to complete stadiums in Africa or the United States
"The tour of the forty years is surprising," says Jocelyne Béroard. Kassav, which is the best-known French group in the world, will soon pass through Côte d'Ivoire, Mozambique, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Polynesia, Japan, Luxembourg, Portugal ... to finish trip to Martinique in December. It is one of the only French groups to complete stadiums in Africa or the United States, with stars like Daft Punk or Jean-Michel Jarre.
"There are plenty of people who do not come from the West Indies and who know the lyrics of the songs!", Jocelyn Béroard is astonished. In France, Kassav will pass at the end of the year by Lille, Nantes, Rouen, Bordeaux, Montpellier and Toulon.
