In press statements on the sidelines of a meeting held yesterday in Dubai about the new perfume trading system, she indicated that asking merchants to put stickers and not allow any products that adopt the "Al-Toula" system to be used only for measurement will be started from February 20 next year.
In detail, the director of the standards department at the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (Specifications), engineer Amina Hassan Zainal, said, “Perfume dealers in the state’s markets will be obligated to put labels on the packages that clarify the transfers from the current system of measurement in units (tula) to the measurement system in grams (milliliters). ) For liquid perfumes and solid perfume products such as oud, starting from the mandatory implementation of the conversion of new units of measurement in the perfume trade sector starting from February 20 ».
She stressed the importance of ensuring that the knowledge indicators of the merchants and suppliers segment are raised well in advance of the start of implementation, and the authority was given a deadline to reconcile the situation about a full year, to ensure a smooth gradual transition to the new unit, and coordination was done with the regulatory and oversight bodies in the country to ensure the best methods of implementation Until more than 85 major perfume trading companies in the country were contacted, of which about 60 representatives attended yesterday, the meeting held by the authority in Dubai about the preparations for the transfer operations.
Zainal reported that the transfer advantages of the new measurement systems in the perfume trading sector include the protection of merchants and consumers alike, with the "milliliter" systems for liquid perfumes, and solid perfume products more accurate in the scales than the current system "Tula", which is used for liquid and solid perfumes.
She added that «the conversion process for the new units of measurement, which are recognized within the international standards of measurement, is useful in the smooth flow of exports to the overseas markets, which were required from companies to transfer from (Al-Tula) to the new measurement systems used in various international markets.
She explained that "any perfumes that adopt the" Al-Tula "system will not be allowed to be traded without transfer during the month of February, and coordination will be with local departments to implement intensive inspection campaigns in the markets, pointing out that through the process of transferring new measurement systems, technical obstacles will be reduced to The perfume trade, which is estimated at eight billion dirhams, as well as the use of internationally accepted measurement standards.
She stated that «the current unit (Al-Toula) for measuring the weights of liquid perfumes is equivalent to 11.66 milliliters, according to the new units of measurement, which was carefully measured, in a way that protects the rights of the merchant and the consumer.
