The Dubai Sports Council said in a statement issued yesterday that the issuance of the new decision, which is the first of its kind in the region, was based on Resolution No. (1) of 2020, regarding the organization of sports institutions and events in the Emirate of Dubai, issued by the Executive Council.

According to this decision, no entity will be granted a license to organize the event from the Dubai Sports Council, except after submitting the insurance document to achieve more protection for participants in sports events, and to enhance the quality of work, providing all factors of safety and attraction for participants, and opening new horizons for the growth and development of the organizing sector. Sports events, which plays a growing role in the movement of society and the economy.

The statement added: "The decision specified that the event insurance policy be issued by one of the insurance companies licensed, approved and recognized for its efficiency in the Emirate of Dubai, or that has a branch in the Emirate of Dubai, and that the document be issued in the name of the organization organizing the sporting event, especially for the exclusively scheduled event."

The statement clarified that: “In the event that the organization of the event extends to more than one emirate within the country, the insurance must be comprehensive for all locations in the cities in which the event is organized, and that the document is not subject to cancellation, modification or change after its issuance, except in the event of cancellation or Amending the date of the event, and that the insurance policy begins from the date of the start of preparations for the event, and ends from the date of removing construction at the event site.

The Dubai Sports Council confirmed that the organizers briefed the participants on the scope of the insurance policy, and the responsibility of the organizer towards the cases covered. and achieve its objectives.

The increase in the sports sector's contribution to Dubai's economy comes as a result of the growing awareness of the importance of exercising as a continuous activity, and the availability of infrastructure that makes exercise accessible to all, including sports facilities, running tracks, cycling and fitness centers.
