The "Your Life Donation" initiative adopted by "Emirates Today", in cooperation with the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, received one million dirhams from "Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi Funds", presented by the businessman, founder and chairman of the Council The management at the Al Habtoor Group, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor.
The initiative "Donate Your Life" aims to support 38 patients with kidney failure, who need kidney transplants at an estimated cost of 22 million and 670 thousand dirhams. The initiative seeks to stimulate the private sector, businessmen and community members to adopt the initiative and provide the necessary support to the target group.
The list of kidney failure patients who need kidney transplantation includes 14 children and 24 adults, including 13 citizens, one Gulf patient, three from Arab countries, one patient from Comoros and 20 from Asian countries.
Through the contribution received by the initiative from “Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi’s funds”, kidneys will be treated and transplanted to patients included in the initiative, in addition to providing the necessary medication, and therapeutic follow-up for patients after the operation. Operations will be performed for them and their treatment will be started at Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai. There are still five patients waiting to be helped with their medical expenses at a cost of two million and 960 thousand dirhams.
The initiative comes within the newspaper’s initiatives in the blessed month of Ramadan, and the volume of donations for this initiative, since its launch so far, has reached 19 million and 710 thousand dirhams, sufficient to treat kidneys and transplant them to 33 patients.
The cost of a kidney transplant for one child is 565,000 dirhams, and the operations will be performed for them at the Al Jalila Children's Specialty Hospital. The transplant cost for the patient is 615,000 dirhams. The transplantation operations will be performed for adult patients at Mediclinic Al Madinah Hospital in Dubai.
The initiative received a donation from a citizen of Dubai, worth 7 million 910 thousand dirhams, to cover the costs of kidney transplantation for 14 children, one million dirhams from “Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi’s funds”, 3.5 million dirhams from Dubai Islamic Bank, and 1.5 million dirhams from the Foundation Endowments and Minors Affairs in Dubai, two million dirhams from the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, one million dirhams from the Dubai Charitable Association, 500 thousand dirhams from the Dubai Insurance Company, one million dirhams from businessman Khalifa Juma Al-Naboodah, one million dirhams from the Beit Al-Khair Association, and 300 thousand A dirham from Emirates Islamic Bank.
