The karate team concludes the participation of the UAE delegation in the Islamic Solidarity Course, which reaches its final stage today.

The UAE participated in the tournament with 53 athletes competing in nine different individual sports.

The karate team will be represented in today's competitions: Marwan Al-Mazmi, Youssef Faraidooni, and Abdul-Ghani Muhammad in the collective kata competition, while Fatima Salem will compete in the 68-kg competition (kumite).

In the karate competitions of the first day, yesterday, the national team player Marwan Al-Mazmi lost in the kata singles competitions, achieving fifth place in the competition that witnessed the participation of many world champions, while Hawraa Al-Ajami won the 50-kg competition in the first match against Azizova Inji, before she Lose to world champion Turkish player Serap Ozilk.

The player Muhammad Jassim Al-Ansari won the first match in the weight of 75 kg (kumite) against the Chad player, before losing to the Jordanian Hassan Maasarwe, and Ahmed Salem lost to the Moroccan player Said Obayah at the weight of 67 kg.

In a press statement, Muhammad Jassim Al-Ansari stressed that his participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya is a practical experience and a preparation station for the World Championships to be held in the same city next October. The upcoming events in Konya, which is in the interest of all participants who will once again compete in the same atmosphere, and on the same facilities, especially that the existing levels are all high and reflected the extent of everyone’s readiness, and some achievements have been achieved during the last period, both in the last Arab championship in Egypt And winning third place, and also achieved fifth place in the last Asian Championship last year in Kazakhstan.”

The UAE athletes have so far achieved 10 colored medals, including three gold, two silver and five bronze, through three sports: cycling, judo and bow arrow for people of determination.

The UAE ranked 14th in the general ranking table, and Turkey topped the general ranking table with 265 medals, with 106 gold, 89 silver and 70 bronze.

On the other hand, the fencing team bid farewell to the tournament in the Abyei teams competition after losing to its Azeri counterpart by a score of (45-33) with the participation of the trio: Khalifa Al Zarouni, Abdullah Al Hammadi and Muhammad Al Mazmi.

The swimming team also concluded its participation in three different races, as Maha Al-Shehhi and Mahra Al-Shehhi achieved 29.95 seconds and 29.83 seconds, respectively, in the 50-meter freestyle, while Salem Thabet and Saeed Faraj scored 26.22 seconds and 27.96 seconds, respectively, in the 50-meter butterfly. Maha Al-Shehhi and Meera Al-Shehhi were 5:08.41sec and 5:14.44sec respectively in the 400m freestyle.

Marwan Al-Hattawi, coach of the swimming team, stressed the importance of participating in the major events and benefits for all athletes, especially if they are at an early age. And the world champions, which is a strong opportunity and station to prepare during the next stage.”

The bow and arrow team was eliminated from the team competitions in the mixed category and the doubles competitions after completing the men's and women's singles competitions.
