There's still plenty to discover about Pennywise and his ties to the town of Derry, Maine.

The horrific clown imagined by Stephen King should have the opportunity to tell us more, since a prequel series is in development for the HBO Max streaming platform.

According to Variety, the plot will take place in the 60s, before “It: Chapter 1”, the film directed by Andy Muschietti.

The filmmaker is announced as one of the executive producers, just like Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs, also on the screenplay of what promises to be a series.

Patience

Nothing has yet been confirmed by the platform or Warner Bros, in charge of the project.

If he is to see the light of day, Stephen King will undoubtedly not fail to pass on the set, and why not make a cameo, as he is used to on the screen adaptations of his books.

The author played the role of the bookseller in Andy Muschietti's

Chapter 2

, whose work he really liked.

He has also adapted his novel

Histoire de Lisey

for Apple TV+ .
