“Google”: Governments that are asking us to remove content on the Internet are increasing

The US technology giant Google said its transparency report shows an increasing number of government requests to remove content on the Internet, with the January-June period constituting the highest number to date.

According to Bloomberg News, the company is also seeing a significant increase in the number of laws requiring the removal of information from its online services, including hate speech, adult content, sex and medical misinformation, and violations of privacy and intellectual property rights.

Google said on its blog that "research from organizations such as Freedom House shows that all online platforms are experiencing a similar trend."

She said that Russia, India and Korea topped the list of countries in terms of the number of requests, while Indonesia, Russia and Kazakhstan had the highest number of materials to be removed.
