“CAS” rejects Al-Ahly’s request to postpone the final of the African Champions League and supports its establishment in Morocco

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the request of the Egyptian Al-Ahly club to postpone the CAF Champions League final against Moroccan Wydad, scheduled for next Monday at the "Mohammed V" stadium in the Moroccan economic capital.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) said in a statement on its official website today, Thursday, that it had received the ruling of the Sports Court, which came in his favour, in Al-Ahly’s complaint against him, as it rejected Al-Ahly’s request to postpone the final match of the African Champions League.

He added that CAF was obligated to implement the decision of the Executive Office that was taken in July 2019, which stipulated that the Champions League final match be played in one match.

He explained: "The hosting of the CAF Champions League final was granted to Morocco after Senegal withdrew its file. The CAF is committed to the principles of fairness, justice and equality between all clubs and member associations, and will treat at all times all member clubs and associations fairly and on an equal footing."

Al-Ahly of Egypt had announced on its official website that it had submitted a complaint to “Cass” regarding the non-neutral “K” decision, through which it decided to hold the final match of the African Champions League in a particular stadium for the second year in a row, and granting one of the parties to the match the advantage of playing in its stadium and in the middle of his fans.

The statement indicated that Al-Ahly demands a decision on the complaint and the establishment of justice by holding the aforementioned match in a neutral stadium, or postponing the match until the complaint is decided, especially since Al-Ahly club submitted all documents that confirm the fairness of its position.
