Wiesbaden / Berlin (dpa) - The arrested alleged author of right-wing extremist threatening letters with the sender "NSU 2.0" has allegedly obtained the information about the addressees from the authorities.

According to dpa information, he is said to have made appropriate inquiries by telephone to authorities such as the registration office.

It was also said that the man could have obtained illegally distributed data from those affected via the Darknet.

The 53-year-old was arrested during a search of his apartment in Berlin, as the public prosecutor's office in Frankfurt am Main and the Hessian State Criminal Police Office had announced on Tuesday night.

He is under urgent suspicion of "having sent a series of threatening letters with inciting, insulting and threatening content nationwide under the synonym" NSU 2.0 "since August 2018," the authorities said.
