«3D printing» .. a qualitative leap for Dubai real estate

The Emirate of Dubai is always innovating in terms of anticipating and making the future, reading economic problems in advance before they occur, and developing effective solutions to them, before these crises occur. It has also become proactive in adopting and introducing the latest new and innovative means and tools in all fields, in order to achieve the added value of the local economy.

The most important thing in Dubai is that the move does not take place at the level of the private sector, for example, or governmental and semi-governmental institutions, but rather it comes from the head of the administrative structure of the emirate, which gives confidence and strength to move quickly towards modernization and development in all fields.

With this good approach came the decision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, to issue a decree regulating the use of 3D printing technology in construction work in Dubai, with the Dubai Municipality being the concerned authority. To achieve the objectives of the decree in accordance with the powers and tasks assigned to it in its text.

This is with the aim of regulating the use of 3D printing technology in construction works across the emirate, gradually increasing the percentage of buildings that are implemented using this technology, and achieving a percentage of no less than 25% of the total buildings whose construction will begin after the effective date of the provisions of this decree by 2030.

Dubai has proven great successes in its ability to read the future, and here we find that the decision will make Dubai a strategic center in the Middle East and the world at large in the field of 3D printing technology, by reducing the cost and implementation time and providing incentives for the sector, as well as after the UAE has adopted its multiple uses. .

First of all, it is necessary to know what 3D printing is, which is the process of creating 3D models from a digital file on a computer, while the standard model of construction involves metal unloading.

3D printing can create a number of successive layers to build complex shapes without wasting these materials, and this technology does not depend on a lot of labor nor on the manufacture of raw materials.

The advantage of 3D printing is that it provides significant cost savings, in addition to protecting the environment by using less raw materials and reducing wastage during construction processes.

The completion of the construction of the property within a short period of time, which may reach days for some buildings, is one of the most important advantages of these technologies, while the normal construction work took years.

These new technologies enhance the attraction of leading companies in this field, while Dubai will be a strategic center from which these technologies will be launched to all countries of the world, while creating a stimulating environment to encourage construction work using 3D printing technology, while building expertise and exporting competencies, which provides an opportunity for aspirants. To their companies in this field «Al-Waleed».

There will also be a great opportunity for construction and building companies in Dubai to excel in this field, which will enhance their position in the region, taking advantage of the recent decision and obtaining all the incentives and facilities provided by the emirate.

This step also helps in advancing the economy in the emirate, enhancing its global competitiveness, and preserving the environment by reducing the percentage of waste resulting from construction work.
