China News Service, Beijing, March 29 (Reporter Wang Kai) For every member of the Communist Party of China, solemnly reading the oath of membership to the party flag is definitely one of the most unforgettable memories in life.

So did you know that although the oath to join the Party has been revised several times in different historical periods, the word "discipline" has always been the "unchanged" part.

The Chinese Communist Party’s oath to join the party is divided into 5 periods-

During the Red Army period: Strictly guarding secrets, obeying discipline, sacrificing individuals, class struggle, working hard for revolution, and never betraying the party.

During the War of Resistance Against Japan: I volunteered to join the Communist Party of China, adhere to the discipline of the party, not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of sacrifices, and strive to the end for the cause of communism.

During the War of Liberation: I volunteered to join the Communist Party of China and made the following oath: 1. Life-long struggle for the cause of communism.

2. The party's interests are above all else.

3. Abide by party discipline.

4. Don't be afraid of difficulties and always work for the party.

5. Be a role model for the masses.

6. Keep the secrets of the party.

7. Have confidence in the party.

8. Be persevering and never betray the party.

In the early days of the founding of New China: I volunteered to join the Communist Party of China, recognize the party program and party constitution, implement the party’s resolutions, abide by the party’s discipline, keep the party’s secrets, ready to sacrifice everything personally, and strive for the complete liberation of all mankind for life.

After the 12th National Congress of the Communist Party of China: I volunteer to join the Communist Party of China, support the party’s program, abide by the party’s constitution, fulfill the obligations of party members, implement the party’s decisions, strictly abide by the party’s discipline, keep the party’s secrets, be loyal to the party, work actively for communism Struggle for life, be ready to sacrifice everything for the party and the people at any time, and never betray the party.

If the amendment to the party's oath reflects the CCP’s advancing with the times, then the always-emphasized word "discipline" reflects its unchanging original aspiration and perseverance that does not change at any time.

Revisiting the oaths of joining the Party in various periods and looking back over the course of a century, we can also understand why the CCP has always attached great importance to and emphasized the word "discipline" from beginning to end.

In the difficult years at the beginning of its establishment, in the revolutionary war years that experienced countless trials of iron and blood, "strict discipline" was the "secret" of the Chinese Communist Party's invincibility.

Those martyrs who never rebelled against the party in the face of tiger benches, chili water, and guillotines, and those warriors who burned like Qiu Shaoyun and gritted their teeth, forged iron will precisely because of iron discipline.

In the period of peace building, the CCP has never relaxed its requirements for discipline.

Because she knows well that the party’s discipline is the inherent requirement for maintaining the party’s advanced nature and purity, improving the party’s ability to govern and the level of governance. It is an important foundation for continuously enhancing the party’s cohesion, combat effectiveness and creativity, and maintaining the party’s unity. A strong guarantee for unification and fulfilling the party's mission of governance.

Think about the outstanding party members of the new era. Which one is not a pacesetter for strictly observing party discipline?

Let’s look at those “tigers” and “flies” that have been spurned by others. Which one of them has not fallen step by step because of ignorance and non-compliance with party discipline?

In recent years, General Secretary Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the importance of party discipline, and pointed out that strengthening discipline construction is a fundamental strategy for comprehensively and strictly governing the party.

Now, when celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, every party member should review his pledge to join the party and ask himself whether he has adhered to strict party discipline in his work and life.

There are not many words in the oath to join the party, so it is not difficult to remember, but the difficulty is to stick to it for life.

"Discipline" is easy to write, and the two characters together can only be drawn in a mere fifteen strokes, but the difficulty is to keep it in mind and follow it all the time and everywhere.
