China News Service, Inner Mongolia, Ejina, May 10th, topic: Beijing Lao Wang "encountered" 310,000 mu of greenery in Ejina, Inner Mongolia for 8 years

  Chinanews.com reporter Zhang Linhu

"Standing in the desert and looking at Beijing, the vast Qilian Mountains, the Heihe River is always clear, the desolate Gobi Desert, thousands of saplings are lined up..." A song "Desert Love" not only expresses Wang Jiangang's homesickness He has also witnessed the miracle of afforestation and greening of 310,000 mu, which has witnessed him sticking to the desert Gobi for 8 years, accumulatively investing hundreds of millions of yuan.

Medium stature, dark skin, low-key behavior... When I first saw Wang Jiangang, it was hard to imagine that this middle-aged man who met all the characteristics of a prairie man turned out to be a down-to-earth Beijinger.

"The wind blows in Ejin, and the sand falls to Beijing", Ejin Banner was once identified as the origin of sandstorms. Wang Jiangang, who made his fortune by planting seedlings, decided to take a look, but Ejin Banner left him with the impression of a vast area, sparsely populated and ecological environment. Fragile, sandstorm raging, drought and little rainfall.

Ejina Banner is located in the westernmost part of Inner Mongolia, with an area of 114,600 square kilometers and a population of only 30,000.

In the early days, Ejina was an oasis of water, beautiful grass and fertilizer, and Populus euphratica into forests. However, due to the destruction of various reasons, the ecology here gradually deteriorated.

"It makes the most sense to plant trees in places with the worst environment." In August 2015, Wang Jiangang, who had passed his fateful year, gave up his comfortable life in Beijing and came to Ejin Banner, 1,500 kilometers away, to take root in this endless desert. On the Gobi, he started his Gobi Oasis dream.

In that year, Wang Jiangang invested more than 13 million yuan to contract more than 52,000 mu of Gobi desert in Dongfeng Town, Ejina Banner, and began to plant the native tree species, Haloxylon, which is drought-resistant and salt-tolerant.

"Each 2-meter-high adult Haloxylon can fix 10 square meters of sand." Wang Jiangang said.

During that time, Wang Jiangang was digging holes and planting trees under high temperature during the day. At night, due to the heavy wind and sand, he could not set up a tent, so he could only live in a temporary burrow.

"Diwozi can withstand the wind and sand, it is warm in winter and cool in summer, but the ventilation is poor." Wang Jiangang said that despite the difficult environment, he never thought to back down, especially when he heard that he was called a liar, it inspired him to fight.

In order to prolong the tree planting time and improve the survival rate, he invented the "flat stubble method"; in order to save water resources, he paved the Gobi Desert with ground irrigation.

From whole seedling afforestation to flat stubble afforestation, from ditching afforestation to digging afforestation, Wang Jiangang summed up his experience time and time again, and explored a new way in line with the Gobi Desert planting Haloxylon ammonica forests and developing the local sand industry.

Wang Jiangang also took advantage of the strong sunshine and long hours of Ejina Banner to plant and maintain Haloxylon ammonium trees in the Gobi Desert by adopting photovoltaic power generation drip irrigation technology.

"Not only saves energy and water, but also changes the mode of pumping water with diesel engines and watering with water trucks in the past, solving high-cost problems such as insufficient water and easy damage to equipment." Wang Jiangang said.

One by one digging holes, planting seedlings one by one, watering one pit and pit... In the past 8 years, Wang Jiangang just performed an inspirational story on the land of Ejina, "I am committed to afforestation for more than eight years, and I vowed to wear green clothes for the deserted beach". The barren land is gradually covered with green and full of vitality.

In order to achieve a win-win situation for both the ecological and economic benefits of Haloxylon ammonides, Wang Jiangang grafted all the 50,000-mu Haloxylon ammonium forests with C. sinensis, which turned into a Cistanche deserticola planting base.

"At present, more than 700 kilograms of Cistanche seeds have been collected, with an output value of more than 14 million yuan, which not only saves a lot of money, but also retains the excellent quality of Ejina Cistanche." Wang Jiangang said.

In 2021, the under-forest economic demonstration base for Chinese medicinal materials planted by Wang Jiangang will be selected as the fifth batch of national under-forest economic demonstration bases.

In Wang Jiangang's view, it is very meaningful to be able to create an oasis in this vast Gobi in a lifetime.

"Although I have put in energy and money, I have also gained a lot. Building this forest in the desert Gobi, enjoying this kind of blessing is not only me, but also eternal wealth." Wang Jiangang said.

"I want to build a million acres of Haloxylon ammonite forests in the Gobi Desert in my lifetime, so that my life will be worth living." Time flies, time flies, Wang Jiangang's green story of painting on the Gobi Desert continues... (End)
