A man in his 50s has been sentenced to prison for stealing a taxi while intoxicated and running away after he collides with another vehicle.

According to the legal community today (9th), the 5th single criminal criminal division of the Daejeon District Court (Judge Park Jun-beom) sentenced 56-year-old A, who was charged with violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, theft, and Violation of the Road Traffic Act, to 4 years in prison.

Mr. A caught a taxi on the roadside of Seo-gu, Daejeon at around 8 pm on July 17 last year and got on the bus.

After hearing harsh words from Mr. A for about 30 minutes, the taxi driver stopped the taxi to call 112 and got off for a while.

In the meantime, it was confirmed that Mr. A moved to the driver's seat and drove a taxi.

It was investigated that Mr. A ran into two other vehicles one after another with this taxi and ran away.

One of the damaged vehicles is said to have suffered enough damage to be scrapped.

A stole a taxi and drove 8.3 km for 12 minutes before being caught by the police.

At the time, he was said to have stumbled so much that he had to be supported by two police officers.

As a result of the breathalyzer test, Mr. A's blood alcohol level was found to be 0.235%, which is the level of license revocation.

The court ruled that "there should be a strict legal responsibility for causing a car accident while driving drunk," but "they have taken into account the fact that the defendant's health condition is not good and the agreement with some victims has been made."

Person A appealed against the judgment of the first instance.
